We finished the fuelselage structure by adding an upper level of horizontal stringers to the formers to provide rigidity for the fuelselage. Next steps will be to establish the location of our inner workings and linkages before we sheet the plane.

Tonight’s work involved adding a lower level of horizontal stringers to the formers to provide rigidity for the fuelselage. A second level of stabilizers will be added to the top corners of the rounded fuelselage. At this point, the perspective down the axis of the plane bears resembelance to a cobra ready to strike.

We have completed construction of all formers necessary to support the fuelselage of the plane. In order to save on weight, complexity, and construction time, we have modified the fuelselage to be box shaped on the bottom and sides, with a rounded top as viewed from the cross-section.

We began construction on the fuelselage of the plane. We have attached long stringers to the wing which will form the framework for the bottom of the fuelselage. We attached a few formers in the middle of the fuelselage at its highest point and are working down to a lower height on both ends from there. At this point, the nose of the plane cannot support itself and is propped up, but once all formers and stringers are in place across the depth of the wing, she should be quite sturdy.

Before beginning construction of the fuelselage, we wanted to test fire our ducted fans. We have soldered them to 14 guage electrical wire and tied them all in series. Our main power feeds will run down the center of the plane within the fuelselage. All of our connections will be covered by the top of the wing, once assembled.
